2026/2027 State Budget Funds StormQuant Radar Deployment Statewide
Once again the State of Florida leads the nation in investing in emergency preparedness and response. On June 29th, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the 2026/2027 state budget that included funding for the expansion of StormQuant’s state-of-the-art proprietary radar and patented software platform. Specifically, Appropriation 2753 includes an allocation for “Emergency Operations Support – Expansion of SaaS-Based Hyperlocal Weather Radar Coverage”.

Florida’s proactive approach and commitment to disaster preparedness sets the standard for emergency management nationwide. The appropriation received strong support from state and local officials and from those Emergency Operations Centers that had StormQuant’s 3D Weather Viewer workstations integrated into their emergency management operations.
The State of Florida first embraced StormQuant’s Radar and Software As A Service (RSAAS) business model in their 2023/24 State budget. That initial multi-year contract secured the deployment of StormQuant’s advanced X-band radars in Collier, Flagler, and Marion counties. Radar gaps had left these communities without adequate coverage during extreme weather events.
“The StormQuant X-Band radar has significantly enhanced our ability to monitor rapidly developing weather at the local level” said Jonathan Lord, Flagler County Emergency Management Director.
The 2026/2027 budget allocation takes the next step forward towards deploying a state-wide network of meshed weather radars.
Building On A Proven Partnership
Florida has experienced multiple major hurricane landfalls in recent years, including Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024, which struck just two weeks apart. StormQuant’s ongoing collaboration with the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) reflects Florida’s forward-looking approach to preparedness and reinforces its leadership in emergency management nationwide.
FDEM’s mission is to coordinate, collaborate, and communicate with all community stakeholders to build a more resilient Florida. It serves as Florida’s primary liaison with federal, state, and local partners during emergencies and disasters of all types. The agency provides technical assistance to local governments in the development of emergency plans and procedures, conducts emergency management training, and supports preparedness initiatives. 
StormQuant’s Weather Viewer workstations are deployed across the entire state, including the Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) in Tallahassee, which serves as the central hub for emergency communications, information sharing, and response coordination. During emergencies, the SEOC works closely with county emergency management officials and partner agencies to direct resources, support response operations, and ensure effective statewide coordination.
