We are thrilled to announce the successful installation of the third X-band radar for the Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM). This milestone marks a significant step forward in enhancing Florida’s weather monitoring and response capabilities.

Radar Locations

The three radars are strategically positioned across Florida to maximize coverage:

  • Everglades City (Collier County): Currently operating at a temporary site and slated for relocation to a permanent location along Collier County’s west coast.
  • Bunnell (Flagler County): Providing critical insights in a region prone to severe weather.
  • Ocala (Marion County): Enhancing detection in central Florida’s data-sparse areas.

Closing the Gaps in Weather Infrastructure

These radars are designed to complement the existing radar networks of the National Weather Service (NWS) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). By addressing blind spots and data gaps in the current radar infrastructure, the X-band radars offer unprecedented weather data in previously underserved areas.
