StormQuant recently conducted an in-person training and briefing session with the Meteorology Branch at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), demonstrating the capabilities of the StormQuant Weather Viewer and discussing the integration of local weather data systems to enhance operational forecasting.
The session took place in the WSMR forecast room, where meteorologists support a wide range of test operations across an area approximately the size of Connecticut. Attendees included Matt Walter, Meteorology Branch Chief, and members of the meteorology team. Division Chief Ed Ellison also joined in, contributing valuable insights and questions.

The briefing included an overview of StormQuant’s mission and capabilities, including the system’s interactive 3D visualization, real-time atmospheric cross-sections, alerting tools, and radar meshing features. Attendees explored how StormQuant’s system can enhance situational awareness and forecasting efficiency, especially with potential integration of WSMR’s existing data streams like the Surface Atmospheric Measurement System and the Lightning Measurement Array. The discussion also touched on map overlays, elevation tools, and user-defined alerts — features recognized as key to aligning the system with WSMR’s operational needs.
WSMR staff expressed interest in exploring integration opportunities for both immediate efficiencies and long-term expansion, acknowledging the potential of StormQuant’s technology to significantly enhance support for growing test demands.

“The engagement was met with enthusiasm and thoughtful dialogue,” said Howard Moore, Lt. Col, USAF (ret.), StormQuant’s Chief Meteorologist. “It’s about showing how this technology isn’t just useful—but essential—as we plan for the future.”
StormQuant looks forward to continuing collaboration with WSMR and other partners committed to innovation in operational meteorology.
