The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) has taken a significant step forward in severe weather preparedness with the installation of StormQuant’s state-of-the-art 3D weather visualization workstations at the State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Tallahassee. This groundbreaking technology can enhance forecasting accuracy, improve response times, and ultimately saves lives.

Our team visit was coordinated by Amy Godsey, Deputy Bureau Chief of Response, and Tristan Rizzi, StormQuant’s President. The on-site installation was led by Caitlyn Gillespie, Deputy State Meteorologist. Each of the three high-speed workstations provides state meteorologists with direct access to StormQuant’s patented 3D weather visualization technology. While on-site, StormQuant personnel provided in-person training to ensure seamless integration and maximize the system’s capabilities for EOC personnel.

“We are extremely pleased to partner with FDEM” said Edward Rossi, StormQuant’s CEO and Board Chairman. “Embracing this level of technological innovation and installing it at the state EOC’s sets Florida apart and will pay dividends to its residents.”

Revolutionizing Weather Monitoring & Emergency Response

The StormQuant platform redefines weather analysis by integrating radar data into hyperlocal, real-time, 3D visualizations. By ingesting data from multiple radar sources—including StormQuant, NEXRAD, and TDWR—the platform provides unparalleled insight into storm formations, wind velocity, and severe weather patterns.

Key features include:

  • True Wind Velocity – Accurately measures wind speed and direction for improved forecasting.
  • Horizontal & Vertical Weather System Cross-Sections – Offers multi-angle storm analysis at any selected altitude.
  • User-defined Alerts – Enables faster, more targeted emergency response.
  • High-Resolution 3D Imagery – Seamlessly integrates multiple radar sources for actionable, life-saving data.

During the installation, Howard Moore, StormQuant’s Chief Meteorologist, demonstrated how the system can be customized to meet the specific operational needs the State’s Emergency Operations Center as well as other EOC’s across the state.

“By leveraging existing radar resources and enhancing them with 3D capabilities, EOC meteorologists can make faster, more informed decisions that directly impact public safety” said Mr. Moore.

With this high-speed, interactive software, the State EOC is now equipped with the most advanced weather forecasting tools available, ensuring better preparation, faster response, and improved safety for Florida residents.
